Hi, I’m Lindsay! I do the writing, experimenting and creating for Tomato Boots. I started this blog in the Spring of 2013 as a way for me to share my love for simple living, zero waste, cooking, crafting and backpacking. In my personal life I do my best to limit how much waste I produce by only taking what I need, giving away when I have too much and reusing as much as possible.
What is simple living? In a nutshell, simple living means reusable bags and glass jars for days, going the extra mile to find something used, doing it yourself instead of paying someone to do it for you, enjoying the beautiful forests and meadows that God has created, reusing before tossing and being okay with the fact that preparing a good, wholesome meal takes longer than 3 minutes in the microwave. I personally choose to live this way because I LOVE the outdoors and I can’t imagine living in a world without green forests and clear, running rivers for me to look at and explore.
Meet Chet! Chet is my husband, best friend, fiercest competitor, fellow home-dweller and arm candy. This blog would be nowhere without his vast array of skills; including, but not limited to, networking like a mad man, eating whatever I make no matter how horrible it may have turned out, and continuous entrepreneuring (which is what best describes his day job and should absolutely be a word). Look at how cute we are:
On a more personal note, I am an introvert who would gladly choose a glass or three of wine and a marathon of Chopped or The Good Wife at home in my sweats (which I change into immediately when I get home from work) over anything on a Friday night. Chet and I bought our first house in early 2014 in the outskirts of Seattle where we live with our two cats Stewie and Calvin, and our puppy Zoey.
OH! And how could we forget our baby girl!
Meet the fam:
Chet and I are blessed beyond belief and I can only hope that my experiences, both the failures and successes, inspire you to live a life that ensures we have trees and rivers and mountains and oceans and birds and slugs (yes, even slugs) for generations to come!
Why Tomato Boots you ask?
The blog was originally called Tomato Boots and Rain Soup. Tomato soup being my all time favorite comfort food and rainboots being the shoe of choice for our rainy little city. Mixing around these words sounded more fun and my husband’s recommendation to shorten it created Tomato Boots.
To be clear, however, I think a boot made out of tomatoes is a really bad idea.
