Hello July, you came quickly! The first day of each month is by far my favorite. Twelve times throughout the year we get the opportunity to start over on whatever our goals and dreams are. Did you fail miserably in June? Rip it off the calendar, recycle it( ) and start over because July is a clean slate. Doesn’t it feel good?! Today you can choose to make better decisions. You can go on more runs, invest deeper into your friendships, apply for a new job, tell yourself you can do anything, sign up for an event you’ve always wanted to go to, finally start writing in your journal, etc. Make a plan today for what you want your July to look like. How do you want to be different come July 31st? We only get one chance for July of 2013 to be awesome, so let’s be prepared and make it happen.
In honor of the 1st, I am deciding to make my July “Homemade Everything” month. I will be a guinea pig for all of these crazy sounding home remedies like baking soda shampoo, yogurt face wash and almond scrub. I have always wanted to make these thing, but I’ve just never gotten around to it. I promise to be honest if it sucks! If I break out because I put raw honey on my face, then trust me, I’m not giving you that recipe. I love these home remedies because they are filled with ingredients you can touch and feel. There are no chemicals or preservatives to mess with our bodies; just straight natural goodness. One of my concerns, however, is that I’ll end up smelling like vinegar and borax by July 31st. My goal is to find recipes that not only work, but actually smell good too. I want you to want to make these and not ever think about buying the commercial brand again. I’d love to hear your feedback, advice and ramblings about every recipe I try. Especially your ramblings…I mean you listen to mine all the time, it’s only fair.
While I’m covering myself in things I would normally eat for breakfast and spraying my counters down with salad dressing ingredients, I also want to try 1 new outdoor adventure this month. Some options I’m considering: kayaking, paddleboarding or learning to sail. I gravitate toward hiking and camping for my outdoor time, but my heart and soul have been craving the water and it’s time I jumped in head first.
What are your goals for July? How do you want to grow and progress this month? Choose to be happy, to live a better life and you’ll find yourself living in a better world.
